If you ever took a physic class, then you are likely to know Newton’s first law which is called as…

The Law of Inertia

They never showed us how to integrate this crucial concept into our lives.

Is it surprising?

Not at all because we all know that traditional education always sucks. If you have a mind above average, you can’t help yourself to become a school hater.

Let’s have a look at this amazing law from a completely different perspective. Why do we do that?

Because the law of inertia is highly valuable to be forgotten in those boring lectures. Actually, it can help us to achieve our dreams when we truly comprehend it.

What’s the law of inertia anyway?

An object at rest will stay at rest unless acted upon by an outside force and an object in motion will continue to move unless acted on by an outside force.

I know, I know…

Who cares textbook definitions, right?

Don’t worry, we are just starting out.

Let’s understand what this law says to us by looking at these simple pictures.

Pic: A ball at rest

Think about a ball at rest, staying on a ground without any movement at all.

Newton says if there is no force acted on this ball, it will remain at rest forever. Pretty obvious, ha?

Pic: A moving ball

If there is a force involved (let’s assume we kicked it), it will start moving forever unless there is an opposite outside force acted on it.

In real life, it eventually stops because there’s friction in the ground and air.

What can we learn from this?

  • Unless we make a decision to change, we’ll stay in the same exact place forever.

Do you want your life to stay exactly the same?

Great, just keep doing what you are doing. Don’t change where you eat, where you sleep, how you treat each other. Don’t make any new decisions at all.

It’s guaranteed that you will get the same results.

  • Even if we are moving, the friction still can stop us.

Do you remember the day you felt so excited after watching a movie or a motivational video?

Maybe you could maintain this hype for 2 days but eventually turned back to your old rhythm. All of a sudden you ended up living in the same boring loop again.

Why did this happen? Because the motivation you got from an outside source was beaten by the friction in the long run.

What’s friction in this sense?

All distractions that keep you busy without producing anything meaningful. Generally, they are our bad habits formed in the past like watching TV, wasting hours on the internet, smoking, killing time with shitty people…

Basically, friction is the negative force that’s keeping you away from your goals and dreams.

  • As long as our force is more than friction, we continue to move.

If there’s no bigger friction comes up, the object will continue to move forever. So, we need a force to move, right?

What could be the force in our lives?

It’s our WHY as an aim, purpose, or a simple goal maybe…

You might say:

  • I am going to earn 10.000$ a month
  • I am going to lose 10 pounds of fat
  • I am going to save 1000000 people from starvation
  • I am going to gain 10 pounds of muscle

Also, you can positively become triggered by another human-being.

When a highly influential person comes into your life, you automatically start expanding your horizons. That person becomes a force to revolutionize your life from A to Z. You start making yourself better in every possible way.

Just think about the classical love story of teenagers. Our boy falls in love with a girl and starts doing things that he has never tried before. He might start studying harder to not stay behind, changing his hairstyle, wearing neat and clean.

Or the force might be a change in your passion, awareness, or frame of mind. The experiences you get from traveling can change your world view. You start seeing things differently and it becomes your force.

A milestone event in your life can force you to change; for example, loss of a family member, being a father/mother, narrowly escaping from death. You remember it for your lifetime and it saves you from falling in hard times, so you can rise again.

However, we need 2 irreplaceable conditions to make sure the law of inertia works for us.

1- The force must be continuous

It should not be exhaustible, interruptible or terminal.

2- There should be no friction (negative force) bigger than our force

Let’s say we want to go to the right and to do that we are applying 100 N force in the right direction. If the friction force is bigger than 100 N, still we can’t move in the right direction.

The Force That Fuels My Life

When I was 7 years old, my purpose was to become better at playing football in my neighborhood. Our status among our friends was determined by our football talent. Therefore, I had no motivation problem at all and I was willing to spend my whole day outside running after a ball.

Years later, everybody started having computers in their house. We stopped going outside to play football as we used to. The previous force has been vanished and replaced by video games. Now, all we discuss in school was video games. Also, we often came together to play them. If you had a better character in the game, your status was higher around your inner circle. Then, I started moving by the force of “video games”. If you had asked me then, “What’s the purpose of your life”, I would say “I wanna be the best at X video game”.

As I grew older, I kept being exposed to different kinds of forces.

In high school, I was motivated by the force of “impressing the girls”. I started picking my hairstyle, clothes, hobbies according to the thought of “What would girls think of me?”. I live up to the opinions of them because I was hooked by the society’s dogmas.

In the last year of high school, there was a new force coming up on the way “University admission exam”. It was such a powerful force that made me forget everything else and started studying all day long because my whole future depended on the result of this exam.

So, I was wrestling with different forces whenever they pop up in my life. I was the product of my circumstances. When a new force came up, everything in my life was ready to change. I was in a reactive state rather than being proactive.

Finally, I was at college and working part-time for a software company at the same time. I felt weak and powerless because I had no joy at all. After the end of the working day, I was on my way to the subway station. I was staring at the big concrete buildings, skyscrapers of Istanbul. Suddenly, I decided to ask myself “What the hell am I living for?”. What was the meaning of all of these?

I was 23 when I finally started questioning the purpose of my existence.

“An unexamined life is not worth living.”

The examination gave me such a powerful force that led me to increase my awareness and started taking radical decisions afterward.

23 years of slavery…

After I gained a new perception about life, my priorities have changed severely.

My old powerful beliefs have just vanished and I filled their gap with more meaningful ones…

The new force swept away my past like it’s a speck of dust.

I had no intention to work for a company, be with stupid people, waste my time with trivial stuff that I don’t care at all.

I quit my job, froze my education, stopped seeing everybody around.

The new force made me change everything from A to Z. I started searching, studying, learning, teaching incessantly. A new relentless desire was born in me.

Have I ever felt stuck? Things haven’t gone in my way? Of course, but my inner drive always triumphed over these obstacles.

I continuously found the inner strength to get up over and over again.

My inner drive was more than enough for motivation, therefore I never searched for a motivational video to cheer me up for a while. This is what you need to achieve anything you want in your life.

When you found this force, you are going to use it throughout your entire life. You will let it rain on you but you’ll never stop going forward.

You won’t keep changing the things you are going after. There will be only one thing…

Your Mission

The world will never stop offering you new ones. Bad people, cruelty, violence, disappointments, sadness…

Troubles of the world will never end! If you let it stall you off, you will find yourself dealing with a new problem as soon as you are done with the last one.

You must be sick of it, you must be really pissed off…

Otherwise, you will never take action. I was disgusted by being a victim of outside forces.

“I have lived my life as best I could, not knowing its purpose, but drawn forward like a moth to a distant moon. And here, at last, I discover a strange truth. That I am only a conduit for a message that eludes my understanding. Who are we, who have been so blessed to share our stories like this? To speak across centuries? Maybe you will answer all the questions I have asked. Maybe you will be the one to make all this suffering worth something in the end.”

-Ezio Auditore

If your purpose is changing very often, you don’t have a real one.

If you had asked my mission back then, I would have told you a different story every single time because I was living a life that’s not mine.

I was not the starring character in my own movie. The script was written by others and it was bothering me like a continuously bleeding implacable pain.

You can sell your soul like many others to not feel this pain again. You can complain, go insane, scream or cry about what a fucked up world you live in.

What I suggest is…

Understand and go deeper

You still have hundreds of other options when somebody puts a gun to your head. We always have a choice.

Free Will Can’t Be Damned

“When I was sixteen I won a great victory. I felt in that moment I should live to be a hundred. Now I know I shall not see thirty. None of us knows our end, really, or what hand will guide us there. A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that whosoever you are played by, or whom, your soul is in your keeping alone. And though these men be kings, or men of power, when you stand before God you cannot say But I was told by others to do thus, or that Virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice. Remember that.”

– The Speech of Baldwin IV from Kingdom of Heaven

Embrace of the damned now or you won’t have anything worth telling later…

Like most dead individuals of sick society have. If you happen to have a kid someday, you must have a real story to tell.

When your kid asked you “Who am I, dad? Why do I exist, mom? What’s our purpose? Where do we come from? Where are we going?”, wouldn’t you feel ashamed if you find yourself bullshitting the dogmas of society as they have done to you?

If you have faith, imagine the judgment day when the creator asked you “What have you done? What were you busy with? What have you lived for?”.

When you are asked by these questions, you can stand on your feet honorably and answer them easefully.

Now, get up and start honoring your struggle.

Take the pen and start to write your own story.

You have already come too far.

You don’t need the permission of other people to make your own decisions. Always make your own decisions and live with the consequences without any complaints at all.

Every defeat is a new chance to start wiser.

You might kneel down on your enemies, but if you can look them right in the eye without fear, you won.
